The Open Telekom Cloud offers a wide range of different services - from simple storage and high-performance computing power to the use of platform services, such as databases or Map Reduce Services.
In general, two different billing models are available to users of the Open Telekom Cloud: With the Elastic Model, only the services used such as CPU hours or storage capacity are billed. In contrast, the Reserved Model offers users the option to book specific capacity over a longer period of time (12, 24 or 36 months). In return, a discount on the Elastic rate is granted. A further discount is also granted if the costs are paid directly at the start of the reserved term (Reserved Upfront). This can amount to up to 60 percent of the Elastic rate.
Numerous parameters flow into the costs of the Open Telekom Cloud. In the case of storage, these usually relate to storage volume and storage duration. Performance classes (e.g. SSD, SAS, SATA, Object Storage), however, also play a role. In terms of computing resources, CPU and RAM size are cost-relevant. as well as additional bookable options (e.g. graphic cards) and the duration of their utilization. Additionally, pro rate license costs are charged for the operating systems used. For services that require additional software (for example, databases), this software is also included in the costs.
Important to note: cloud service are only available via a network. The costs incurred for data transfer depend on the amount of data transferred. So-called price scales are applicable for data traffic. The basic price is reduced as from a certain volume of data traffic.
Most of the management services on the Open Telekom Cloud are free of charge. These management services can, however, trigger follow-up actions. If servers are started or storage is used in the process, these services are subject to a fee. Costs are also incurred from the amount of communication services triggered: a basic volume per month is free, e.g. 1 million API calls or 100 SMS.
Download the “Overview of billing and pricing models” brochure here for more information about the billing models and the calculation examples. Use the price calculator available to calculate specific services or configurations. It also calculates the respective additional services that influence costs and includes them in a non-binding offer.
